Maple Grove Studio · making things since 2008

A studio with seventeen years on the timeline.

Maple Grove Studio makes video, voice, sound, learning, live events and websites. It's the engine behind Your Expert Voice and matleger.com, with a few projects of its own on the side.

From raw to released

Three small demos of how things get made here. They're built to be played with.

The cut

Edit the words, and the sound follows

So, um, what we're uh, what we're going to do today is you know, take a raw recording and, um, and make it sound like you meant every word.

Editing by transcript: filler words come out of the text, and the audio closes up behind them.

The grade

Flat footage in, finished picture out

The studio: a desk with monitors, microphone and lights

A browser demo on a studio photo. The left side is made flat on purpose, to show what footage looks like before the grade.

The mix

Four stems. Solo them, mute them, ride the faders

Everything you hear is generated by code in your browser. No audio files. Sound only starts when you press play.

Made at Maple Grove Studio

A film company takes a production credit. It doesn't stamp its name over the film. These are the credits.

The credit that goes on every piece:

A Maple Grove Studio production

The studio

Mat at the studio desk, with monitors, a microphone and soft lights

A fully equipped studio in Eastern Ontario, a recording booth on wheels, and a control room that works from anywhere.

Online, in person or hybrid, whichever serves the project.

Who's behind it

Mostly Mat Leger, with friends when a project calls for them. He has been making technology behave for as long as he can remember, and he still likes it best when something complicated finally works.
